Briton on holiday dies at waterfall
A British tourist has drowned after being swept away by a strong current at a popular waterfall west of Manila, in the Philippines.
Police said 56-year-old Richard Kidd, from Gateshead, drowned while swimming alone in Bataan's Dunsulan Falls.
Mr Kidd went to the tourist spot on Saturday with his British girlfriend and her father, who are residents of Bataan.
Police investigator Kristoffer Mendoza said he believed Mr Kidd was swept away as he swam below the water cascade, which was swollen from rains.
Mr Mendoza said Mr Kidd, an artist, was in the country to paint a luxury ship in Bataan.
