Michael Jackson trial begins in LA as family seek to sue promoters over 'wrongful death'
MICHAEL Jackson's family have begun their trial against the singer's former promoters AEG Live over claims of wrongful death in Los Angeles today.
The lawsuit claims the company were guilty of "negligent hiring" for Dr Conrad Murray, who is now in prison for involuntary manslaughter.
Katherine Jackson is seeking £25 billion in damages, including £5bn for loss of earnings the Thriller star would have earned had he lived.
The Thriller star died two weeks before his This Is It concerts, organised by AEG Live were set to debut in London during summer 2009.
The trial will likely include testimony from Jackson's children Prince Jackson and Blanket, according to CNN.
Mr. Jackson is a person who was known to doctor shop
AEG's lawyers are expected to cite the singer's child molestation charges that he was acquitted of in 2005 after the judge ruled it admissible.
AEG lawyer Marvin Putnam said: "Mr. Jackson is a person who was known to doctor shop.
"He was known to be someone who would tell one doctor one thing and another doctor something else."
