Vladimir Putin has been left humiliated after a series of Ukrainian missile strikes overnight devastated a Russian border town yet again. President Putin said Ukraine's attack on Belgorod last week would not go unpunished - but Kyiv has pummelled the town yet again.

The latest barrage of shelling on Belgorod comes just days after a strike on the city last Saturday killed 25 people.

Officials posted photos of cars turned upside down from the strikes, while the explosions blew out about 130 windows in the apartments of houses.

At least two people were left injured and more than 30 cars were also damaged in the overnight attack.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry posted a video of their special forces carrying out a stunning sabotage mission in Belgorod this week.

In the video, the special forces can be seen mining a road that the Russians used for military logistics ahead of a routine inspection.

They are also filmed attacking a Russian military checkpoint, adding that the Russian platoons "suffered significant losses".

Belgorod governor Vyacheslav Gladkov sought to calm residents after the shelling, saying that the Russian air defences had shot down 10 missiles.

Panicked officials in the Russian border town ordered schools to extend their winter breaks due to the risk of further attacks.

Governor Gladkov urged schools and universities to hold classes remotely.

Last Saturday marked the deadliest civilian death toll in a single attack inside Russia since the war began almost two years ago.

Beyond Belgorod, Ukraine ramped up its Crimean assault by targeting a Russian command post near the Crimean port city of Sevastopol on Thursday in an aerial attack that Russia said injured one person.

Early Friday, Russia's Defense Ministry said it repelled a Ukrainian drone attack over annexed Crimea, destroying and intercepting 36 drones over the peninsula.

On the battlefield, Ukrainian troops repelled multiple Russian attacks in the Donetsk, Kharkiv, and Zaporizhzhya regions.
