Cyprus's main airport reopens
Cyprus' main airport has reopened after shutting down overnight to repair malfunctioning runway lights.
Larnaca Airport operator Hermes spokesman Adamos Aspris said the lights had been fixed and the airport was operating normally.
Aspris said 22 flights from countries including Britain, Germany and the Netherlands.
Two flights were cancelled while the rest were diverted to the island's secondary Paphos airport around 70 miles (110km) west.
One flight had to be diverted to Beirut in Lebanon, 130 miles (210km) south east of Larnaca.
The new Larnaca terminal officially opened last month and uses the same runway as the now defunct terminal about half a mile away.
Aspris said the runway lights were an older installation.
