Seattle shooting HORROR as multiple shot in Lake City, North Seattle - four shot, two dead
FOUR people were shot and two were killed in a violent attack in Lake City, North Seattle, the Seattle Police Department has confirmed.
The gunman is in custody following the unprovoked attack in near Sand Point Way Northeast and Bartlett Avenue Northeast. Investigators said the suspect walked into the street and fired at a King County Metro bus. The gunman has tried to flee the scene in a Prius following the attack and crashed the car.
Seattle Police Chief Carmen Best told the Seattle Times four people have been shot and two are dead.
One of the victims was a bus driver on the Metro Route 75, according to Metro.
Bullet holes are reportedly visible in the windshield of the bus.
No one else on the bus was injured.
The second person was killed when their car collided with a vehicle driven by the suspect.
President of Amalgamated Transit Union Kenneth Price told Seattle Times he was hit in the torso but able to walk to a gurney to be taken to hospital.
The shooting began around 4.00pm ET (11.00pm GMT).
The motive of the shooter is unclear.
A Seattle police tweet said: "Multiple victims in shooting incident." No further official details were immediately available.
The Seattle Division of the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is assisting Seattle police in their investigation, as is the King County Sheriff’s Office and Metro Transit Police.
Seattle City Councilmember Debora Juarez said on Twitter: “I am shocked and grieving for the individuals who were shot today in North Seattle.
“It is an appalling, unconscionable act. I stand with all the good people in Lake City, in the north end, and throughout the City of Seattle in condemning this violent action.”
