New weather maps reveal the exact date the UK is set to be battered by a 700-mile wall of rain.

WXCharts has forecast a storm coming to the UK at the end of the month on April 30.

Rain will move in from the west over the length of the UK, from the north edge of Scotland to the south coast of England. It will take the entire day to move to the centre of the country, where it will mostly stop.

The areas set to see the most rain are Belfast, Oban, Newton Stewart, Kendall, Liverpool, Conwy, Cardiff and Plymouth.

It will be coldest in central and north Scotland (Aberdeen, Inverness, Fort William, Wick) and Wales (Cardiff, Aberystwyth, Conwy) with temperatures between 5C and 6C.

South Scotland (Edinburgh, Dumfries), Northern Ireland (Derry, Belfast) and the north of England (Newcastle, Carlisle, Liverpool, Hull) will sit between 6C and 7C.

The midlands and the south of England (Birmingham, Norwich, London, Southampton, Plymouth) will be between 7C and 8C.

The Met Office has said that the period will see wet weather in the south and east, with western and northern areas staying more dry. The forecaster said coastal winds along the east will make it feel cold, though temperatures will likely trend back toward average.
