'It could've been us' Hundreds lay flowers for London terror attack victims
HUNDREDS of people left stunned by the terrorist attack laid flowers in Westminster and across London yesterday in tribute to the victims.
They headed to Westminster Bridge within hours of it reopening, leaving a pile of flowers and notes in memory of the three innocent people who lost their lives.
At the Lambeth end a boy left a note to heroic PC Keith Palmer.
It said: “Thank you for looking after this country. Benedict. Aged 8.”
A bunch of flowers and note laid on the Parliament side said: “Why? As you get nastier we’ll become nicer.”
Two students said: “It could have been any of us.”
Crowds gathered near the Houses of Parliament despite police cordons.
Several bunches of flowers were laid in Westminster Hall alongside a book of condolence.
The Union flag was flying at half-mast over the Palace of Westminster.
One tribute to PC Palmer left at the National Police Memorial in St James’s Park said: “For your strength we can never repay you; for your bravery we will never forget you.”
