Police are actually trying to find out why the chicken REALLY crossed the road
POLICE in Scotland have ruffled a few feathers by launching an inquiry into why the chicken crossed the road.
Many on social media are speculating about what the chicken was doing
Officers moved in when the hen in question brought traffic to a standstill in East Marketgait, Dundee, this morning.
They managed to capture the chicken and take it back to the police station.
The bird is now being cared for the by the RSPCA until the owner is traced.

A spokesman for Tayside Police Division said: "Police are appealing for any information as to why the chicken was crossing the road."
But their investigation may have put the cat among the pigeons.
Paul Coughlin posted on Facebook: "I can't believe you guys are questioning why this poor chicken was crossing the road.

"Seagulls run amok, pigeons do what they want but the second a chicken steps outta line it feels the full force of the law."
Karen Erma Johnson said: "I dream of a world where chickens can cross the road without having their motives questioned!"

Others thought they may be able to help police with their inquiries with various tip offs suggesting fowl play and games of 'chicken'.
