Now well-off people living near a traditional London market have called for the traders to be silenced.
Complaints about the familiar din in trendy Islington’s Chapel Market have come from rich residents who moved into a rebuilt block last year.

It’s like moving next to a church and complaining about the bells!
Kevin Taylor, who has sold fruit and vegetables there for most of his life, said: “It’s like moving next to a church and complaining about the bells!”
Mr Taylor said being a trader is more difficult than ever with internet shopping and supermarkets
“Being a market trader is harder than ever, what with internet shopping and big supermarkets, and we do not want to die out.
“Many people love the hustle, bustle and banter, it’s been a way of life in Britain for hundreds of years.
Islington Chapel Market has been designated a street market since 1879
He said: “Ten months ago we spoke to traders after complaints about noise from cages.”
Traders say since then they have had verbal complaints from their “yuppy” neighbours.
