THREE people have now died after a horrific motorway crash.
A four car crash has left two dead and a third person seriously injured
Four vehicles were involved in the crash on the M5 in North Gloucestershire early today.
Police later said that three men, all from one car, had lost their lives in the motorway crash, while five more are injured.
The southbound carriageway of the motorway, between junctions 8 and 9, Tewkesbury and the M50, was still closed eight hours after the collision yesterday.
West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "Upon arrival, the emergency services found a car which had been involved in a serious collision with four men inside.
"Sadly, nothing could be done to save two men and they were confirmed dead on scene.
"A third man was in a critical condition and received advanced trauma care by ambulance staff and the trauma doctor at the roadside before being alerted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.
"Sadly, the man was later confirmed dead at hospital.
A fourth man was given trauma care for back and leg injuries before being taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.
Traffic was sent on a 25-mile diversion along the M50 and around Gloucester, causing major jams in the area.
