Girl, 17, fighting for life after savage hammer attack at home
A TEENAGER has been left fighting for her life after being attacked with a hammer in her own home.
A girl was hospitalised after being attacked with a hammer in Shearer Road, Portsmouth
Paramedics rushed to the horrific scene in Portsmouth last night as the teen suffered ‘life-threatening’ injures.
Police launched a manhunt after the girl who suffered head injuries was sent to Southampton General Hospital where she remains in a serious but stable condition.
Door panels were smashed in the violent incident in Shearer Road in the Buckland area of the city and officers say they are trying ‘to locate all parties believed to have been involved’.

Shop owner Mari Brahma this morning told how the victim's terrified mother had come to him for help.
He said: "She was with one of her daughters, who is about three years old. I asked her what happened and she said someone had attacked her other little girl.
"I called the police straight away and gave the three-year-old some sweets and a drink. The police then came and took over from us.
"It is very distressing. I have lived in this area for seven years and it's never been like this."
Cllr Julie Swan, a ward councillor for Fratton, urged people to get in touch with the police with information.
She told Portsmouth News: “This is nothing short of barbaric. I urge people to share the information and get in touch with the police so they can catch whoever has done this.”
The attack took place at a home next door to the local shop
The attacker left the girl, 17, with life threatening injuries
South Central Ambuance service confirmed that the teen suffered life-threatening injuries.
A spokesperson said: "She was assessed and treated at the scene and then taken in an ambulance to Southampton General Hospital."
The police helicopter has been seen circling in the area.
Forensics officers have surrounded the terraced home as investigators inspect the damage inside the property.
Hampshire Police said they are looking to locate the people involved but have not revealed if they are known to the family.
