Human skull found at famous whisky mansion as police search golf course for remains
HUMAN remains have been found on a golf course just a day after a woman's skull was found at a famous whisky mansion next door.
Police have set up a tent as they search for more remains
The skull was found on Saturday in the grounds of the £4million estate previously owned by the Drambuie whisky family.
And in the following days more body parts were found on the Gogarburn Golf Club near Edinburgh which is next door to to Gogar Mount House.
It's possible animals could have spread any remains around
Police have closed down the golf course's seventh, eighth and ninth holes as they search for more remains.
They revealed the skull may have been lying for six months in the 23-acre grounds of the six-bedroom house once home to 19th Century "Whisky King", Sir Robert Usher.
Mary MacKinnon, chair of luxury whisky brand, Drambuie, lived there until about 10-years-ago when it was sold to Royal Bank of Scotland, whose headquarters are nearby.
The golf course is next to the Drambuie whiskey mansion where a skull was found
Dave Hamilton, the golf club's greens convenor, said he was told a caretaker at the house found a skull on Saturday and alerted the police.
Golf club secretary, Kenneth Brown, added: "Some remains were found in a neighbour's grounds on Saturday.
"The police expanded the search on to the golf course on Monday.
The remains were found on the Gogarburn golf course
"We've got scrubland between the ninth fairway and the estate boundary.
"It's possible animals could have spread any remains around.
"The police really aren't telling us anything.
"We've closed the seventh, eighth and ninth holes while they're here."

Experts from Dundee University have been brought in to help identify the woman while police divers are searching the golf course's lakes for further remains.
A police spokesman said: "Officers were called to Gogarstone Road at about 4pm on Saturday following the discovery of human remains within the grounds of a property.
"A forensic examination is under way to establish the full circumstances surrounding this, and further updates will be provided when available."
