British Airways flight 'forced to make emergency landing after engine fire'

A BRITISH AIRWAYS flight was forced to make an emergency landing after a fire was discovered in one of the engines, according to reports.

The Airbus 321 was forced to turn back just 11 minutes after taking off from the Azerbaijan capital Baku to London at 9.20pm local time on Friday. 

Te captain of the plane is understood to have contacted the air traffic controller service from the Haydar Aliyev International Airport to inform  them about the fire in one of the engines. 

He requested a priority landing, said the assistant president of Azerbaijan Airlines and service chief Maharram Safarli. 

The plane was said to be carrying 92 passengers and crew members onboard. 

There were no reported injuries. 

British Airways were not available for comment.
