The welcome warning for stay-at-home families comes as the country emerges from another cold winter, which witnessed more snow at the beginning of the month.

Now, weathermen are strongly advising people to look out sun block over the Easter weekend.

Stuart Brooks of the Met Office said: “There is some pleasant weather in store for the country, particularly, on Sunday.

“If you are spending the whole day out of doors you will need to take steps to ensure you don’t get burned. UV levels are not quite up to summer levels but it’s easy to be caught unawares, particularly fair-skinned people.”

An area of high pressure building from the Atlantic will protect Scotland from any approaching wind and rain.

Temperatures today will vary from around 11C on the west coast to 12 to 13C in Glasgow and possibly 14C in Perth, Dundee and Edinburgh.

However, the Mercury should hit 15 Celsius (59F) generally across Scotland tomorrow.

Met Office forecaster Stuart Brooks added: “Sunday is definitely the pick of the weekend.”
