The fire has taken over a large warehouse in north west London

The ground and first floor of the industrial unit in Park Royal in north west London are alight and a large section of its roof is ablaze.

Dramatic footage has emerged of the flames taking over the building near Central Middlesex Hospital after London Fire Brigade (LFB) were called at 12.29am today.

A total of 15 fire engines from eight west London fire stations are at the scene with more than 100 firefighters battling the fire since the early hours of this morning.

Nobody is understood to have been in the warehouse and London Ambulance Service has reported no patients.

The fire started just after midnight but crews were still tackling it at 8am

LFB station manager Bill Dunn, who is at the scene, said: “The fire is causing a lot of smoke in the Park Royal area and locals should shut windows and doors. This is likely to be a protracted incident and will probably be causing disruption into the morning rush hour so avoid the area if you can.”

An eyewitness, who lives near the scene, told the BBC that visibility was down to zero.

He said: "I was woken up by the smoke. My windows were open. I could hear sirens. It looked completely foggy outside."

Rush hour traffic is building up around the area with the B4492 closed and buses diverted.

Meanwhile road closures in central London are still in place as firefighters are still tackling an electrical fire under the pavement in Holborn which started yesterday afternoon resulting in 2,000 office workers and judges being evacuated from workplaces and the Royal Courts of Justice.

The blaze comes just hours after a fire broke out a Holborn underground station, which left 5,000 homes and businesses in central London without power overnight.

Phone lines went down and thousands of workers fled their offices as the fierce blaze broke out.

Firefighters were called to Holborn after thick black smoke was reported to be billowing out of manhole covers and the station entrance.

Eyewitnesses were left 'struggling to breathe' and thousands were evacuated from the area.
