Bamboo, 20 bottles of wine and a coat stand: Jeremy Clarkson's backstage demands revealed

JEREMY CLARKSON was last week sacked for hitting a producer after he was given a cold meat platter rather than a steak.

And today details to further highlight the diva-like behaviour of the former Top Gear Presenter have emerged online, showing his ridiculously specific green room demands.

According to the Daily Mail, Clarkson and his co-stars James May and Richard Hammond requested more than 20 bottles of wine and champagne including Veuve Clicquot Champagne, Cloudy Bay Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc and always wanted a banquet of carefully selected foods, while filming Top Gear live.

Their drinks had to be served on linen cover tables, while a sofa was requried as long as it provided "enough room to seat six people, one of whom is 6ft 3inches and likes to lie down."

Yet aside from food and drink, the controversial TV presenter also asked specifically for a coat stand during the tour and NOT a coat rail.

Other bizarre requests included soft lighting, bamboo plants and a rug in his dressing room - if there were no carpets.

Clarkson also needed to be near a McDonald's and next to the request it stated: "THEY WILL ASK FOR THIS.."

A source told the Mail: "All three presenters have their eclectic tastes and they certainly know what they want.

“Jeremy is very into his rosé and very particular about getting exactly the right type of wine.

“He also likes to be driven around in a Range Rover during these events.

“It’s fair to say he can be a little bit of a Prima Donna at times.”

Meanwhile, May was spotted laughing and chatting with the the BBC's creative director Alan Yentob, outside the corporation's headquarters in Portland Place, London today.

The BBC declined to comment on the meeting but it comes just days after Mr Yentob said he hoped May and Hammond would stay with the BBC.

This comes after Clarkson was sacked following an "unprovoked physical and verbal assault" on the show's producer Oisin Tymon

BBC's director-general Tony Hall announced on Wednesday last week that Clarkson would be dropped from BBC Two show Top Gear.

He said "a line has been crossed" and that "there cannot be one rule for one and one rule for another".

But Clarkson appeared to have no cares in the world when he welcomed a new black Mercedes CLK 63 AMG on to his driveway at his home in west London.
