Erol Incedal, 27, thanked jurors at the end of the retrial at the Old Bailey where, for the first time, most of the evidence was heard in secret.

During the public sessions, the court heard Incedal had travelled to Syria and later returned to the UK and discussed terror acts with a contact via email in 2013.

Police, who put him under surveillance, later found a slip of paper in his car with the address of Mr Blair and his QC wife Cherie on it.

The Turkish-born married father-of-two, of Southwark, south-east London, denied planning a terror attack.

He faces a jail term, however, after being convicted last year of possessing a bombmaking manual on a memory card when he was arrested in October 2013.

He will be sentenced next week with friend Rarmoul-Bouhadjar, also 27, from south London, who admitted having an identical document.
