EasyJet was praised by passengers for going the extra mile to show the eclipse

Pilots on three flights went the extra mile to please passengers by doing laps near the Faroe Islands - considered the best place to see the phenomenon.

These stunning photographs were taken from the easyJet service from Manchester to Reykjavik at 37,000 ft.

Passengers flying to Iceland’s capital from Luton and Belfast were also shown the eclipse in all its glory, while millions of spectators down on earth were unable to view the phenomenon.

The majestic sky can be seen shining hues of orange and yellow as the sun beams from behind the moon.

The thick cloud covering can also be seen beyond the shadows created by the eclipse.

Synaes, who was on one of the flights tweeted: “Had a fantastic view of the full eclipse courtesy of @easyjet.”

Meanwhile some Twitter sky-gazers called it the “worst eclipse ever” as they struggled to see beyond the clouds.
