Twitter users outraged as Secret Cinema tickets for Star Wars showing priced at almost £80

TWITTER users reacted angrily today after the Secret Cinema revealed it would cost almost £80 to attend their screenings of Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back.

Tickets went on sale for around 100 showings at 1pm and within the space of a few hours 12 dates were sold out.

However, fans have been left disappointed after the Secret Cinema raised their ticket prices from £53.50 to £78.

A Twitter user wrote: "I love Star Wars. More than anything. Except £75. I don't love it more than £75. #secretcinema".

While another said: "£75 though? You only need one kidney, right? #StarWars #SecretCinema".

One tweeter added: "Ouch £75 for secret cinema Star Wars and then travel to London - might have to dress up as a Wookie at home".

The Secret Cinema's screenings of the Star Wars movie will be held at a secret location in London that will revealed two months before opening night.

Their previous showings were of Back to the Future and it used actors along with sets re-created from the movie to immerse the audience.

The initial screenings of the iconic Michael J Fox movie were cancelled due to Secret Cinema not being able to meet technical requirements.

The company for the past eight years have hired actors to help bring classic movies to life.

The Secret Cinema showed iconic horror The Shining at Brompton Cemetery while Alexandra Palace turned into a desert for Lawrence of Arabia.

While last year more than 80,000 people attended the showings of Back to the Future at the Olympic Park.

It was transformed into a replica of Hill Valley, the fictional Californian town in that features in the Back to the Future trilogy.

The first film in the series, which was shown at the Secret Cinema showings, is set in the 80s and the 50s.

The movie's protagonist Marty McFly goes back in time with scientist Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd) and meets his mother and father as teens.

The film, released in 1985, spawned two other parts that came out in 1989 and 1990.

While The Empire Strikes Back, which Secret Cinema will be screening between June and September, is the second part of the original Star Wars trilogy.

It will be shown ahead of the eagerly anticipated release of Star Wars Episode 7, the latest chapter in the space opera.

It is due out on December 18 2015 and sees original cast members Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher reunited.

They will reprise their roles of Han Solo, Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia alongside a selection of up and coming actors and actresses.
