Laura Pearce described how her sons were "terrified" when the motorist crashed into her blue Ford Fiesta while driving his car up a stone wall bordering the country road.

She then said he entered her vehicle without permission, in order to release her handbrake to push the car backwards.

Within minutes and without saying a word, the brazen man then got back into his grey Volkswagen Golf and drove off, according to Ms Pearce.

The incident, now being investigated by police, occurred on Friday evening in New Lane, Tong, near Bradford in west Yorkshire.

She posted a staggering photo of the incident on Facebook, where her post has since gone viral after being shared almost 20,000 times.

She wrote: "I need your help... Friday night on my way home at 4.45 some idiot flew around the corner on new lane in tong and smashed into my car (the blue fiesta) driving himself up the wall.

"He then squeezed out of his window and climbed over the bonnet of my car.

"Opened my passenger side door, leaned in (as you can see in the pic) took off my handbrake and pushed the car backwards, saying let's get out of the way. (sic)

"I was in shock and just let him."

She has now taken to Facebook to appeal for help in hunting down the driver.

Ms Pearce added: "The car is registered in Wakefield. My car is knackered, my boys were terrified and my back is super bad. Anyone with any information: help."

West Yorkshire Police confirmed they are investigating the incident as a case of dangerous driving.

A spokesman said: "Officers are speaking to the victim this afternoon and work is ongoing to identify and trace the male driver of the other vehicle, a grey coloured Volkswagen Golf.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact West Yorkshire Police via: 101 quoting crime reference number: 13150104842."
