Charity encourages children to help restore Spitfire

A CHARITY is inspiring children to become engineers by training them to help restore a Battle of Britain Spitfire.

Operation Spitfire aims to raise £1million to fund the complete restoration of fighter RW388 at the Potteries Museum & Art Gallery in Stoke-on-Trent.

Spokesman Ray Johnson said: “It will take several years.

"It’s not just a museum piece, we are restoring all working parts.”
