Police 'ignored' sex abuse of girls in Sheffield, claims former officer
SOUTH Yorkshire Police were told not to investigate the hundreds of girls making claims of sexual abuse in Sheffield, a former police officer has alleged.
The accusations heap further pressure on senior officers who allowed girls as young as 12 to be raped, tortured and trafficked by gangs of paedophiles – just as they did in neighbouring Rotherham.
The whistleblower claims he was ordered to abandon his inquiry into child abuse.
He made the claims as a leaked report says more than 200 girls in Sheffield were suspected of being sexually exploited.
It lists more than 320 men accused of carrying out abuse from 2007 to 2010.
