Scotland Yard had earlier today said a 71-year-old man was arrested "under the strand of the investigation we have termed 'Others'."

Clifford was jailed for eight years last May for a string of indecent assaults carried out between 1977 and 1984.

The publicist had used his celebrity connections to lure women. He is currently serving his sentence at Cambridgeshire's Littlehey prison.

Scotland Yard said it has spoken to 17 people as part of Operation Yewtree, and the recent arrest was someone they had interviewed before.

This is not a new individual to Operation Yewtree

A Met Police spokesman said: "This is not a new individual to Operation Yewtree. This is not an 18th individual."

Clifford is believed to have been interviewed at a police station in Peterborough and inquiries continue.

Operation Yewtree is a Metropolitan Police investigation into sexual abuse claims launched in October 2012 in the wake of the Jimmy Savile scandal.

Following Clifford's sentencing last year the Metropolitan Police confirmed that other people since came forward with allegations.

A spokesman previously said: "We have received further information and this is currently subject to review."

Clifford has previously represented late reality TV star Jade Goody and Rebecca Loos, who claimed she had an affair with England football star David Beckham.
