Ex-polo star denies abuse of five girls

A LEADING figure in British polo today denied having sexually assaulted young girls.

Former professional player and umpire Simon McLaren-Tosh, 49, is charged with five counts of sexually attacking five children under 13.

The assaults are alleged to have happened in Berkshire between April and August last year, Slough Magistrates Court was told.

McLaren-Tosh, who was arrested on Sunday at his home near Bracknell, Berks, will appear at Reading Crown Court next month.

He runs a classic car business and sits on the international rule-making committee of Hurlingham Polo Association.

He was a member of the team which won the prestigious Roehampton Trophy in 2000.
