My poster boy... Scots artist wins a date with hunk she spotted on NZ beach

A SCOTTISH backpacker had a date yesterday with a New Zealander she contacted after leaving a poster of him on a beach.

Glasgow artist Sarah Milne liked the look of William Chalmers when she saw him with his dog by the sea in Picton on the South Island.

Although they didn’t speak, Sarah could not get him out of her mind.

So she drew a poster and hung it on a nearby seat, asking to meet the mystery man she described as “shirtless, wearing black shorts with stars tattooed on his torso and running with a curly, bouncy, blonde dog”.

The poster went viral – and led to the pair finally meeting at the same beach.

We’re really struggling to find our own space

William, who works at a burger restaurant nearby, turned up clutching a bottle of bubbly.

Asked if there would be a second date, he joked: “Ask me tomorrow.”

Sarah was a bit overwhelmed by the publicity her gesture drew.

She said: “We need to get over this one first.

“We’re really struggling to find our own space.”
