Building firm boss jailed for attack on a Good Samaritan who gave money to homeless man
A BUILDING firm boss has been jailed so he can “learn a lesson” after he punched a stranger who gave loose change to a homeless man.
Jamie Sanders was jailed for 17 months after his hearing at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court
Jamie Sanders, 26, took exception to the act of generosity by Gary Hales.
He felled him with a single punch.
Mr Hales, 37, fractured his skull as hit the ground.
Jailing Sanders for 17 months, Judge Peter Cooke said: “You need to learn a lesson.
"The injury is serious.
“You are fortunate you are not facing a manslaughter charge.”

The attack happened in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent.
In a victim statement read to Stoke Crown Court, Mr Hales said he had a week-long blackout after the assault and lost his sense of smell and taste.
He added that he is now anxious about going out.
Sanders, of Blurton, Stoke-on-Trent, admitted grievous bodily harm.
Paul Cliff, defending, said: “He accepts full responsibility.
“He feels bad for the victim.”
