Council spends £16 to send a parcel just yards away
A COUNCIL was blasted yesterday for spending £16 to send a parcel just 300 yards.
Isle of Anglesey County Council used a special Royal Mail service to deliver the legal documents from its HQ to the nearby police station.
The North Wales council is facing budget cuts of £15million while residents face a council tax bill rise of 4.5 per cent.
Officials have even mooted charging parents £1.50 for their child to attend school breakfast clubs.

Councillor Peter Rogers discovered the £15.85 bill for delivering to the police station in Llangefni.
He said: “I was shocked. “The station is no more than 350 yards from the council headquarters.
“What’s wrong with someone walking it to the police station?”
An Anglesey council spokesman said last night that to hand deliver the parcel “would have cost more in wasted time and disruption than paying for its postage”.
