Details of the stormy end to her 19-year marriage emerged in a serialisation of her book, My Fight to the Top.

The mother-of-three revealed she trashed ex-husband Michael’s clothes, scratched his £120,000 Porsche Panamera and dosed him with laxatives.

Prosecutors at the Crown Office in Edinburgh say that if a case is in the public interest the procurator fiscal can instruct police to investigate.

Police Scotland say they have not yet received any complaint but human rights expert Professor Tony Kelly believes the Ultimo tycoon could face court.

The leading criminal lawyer claimed a member of the public could make a formal complaint to police, forcing them to investigate the 43-year-old.

Professor Kelly, of Kelly and Taylor Solicitors in Coatbridge, Lanarkshire, warned: “There is nothing to stop Joe Public chapping the door of the police station and stating he believed there had been a criminal offence.”

The professor also suggested the procurator fiscal could instruct police to investigate Ms Mone’s claims in a move similar to that which saw four Celtic and Rangers players in the dock at Glasgow Sheriff Court after a shame game in 1987.

In her autobiography, Ms Mone says she took the drastic measures against her then husband after suspecting he was having an affair with Ultimo designer Samantha Bunn, 34.

She said: “I put his cufflinks in the bin, let down his tyres, cut holes in his boxer shorts.

“I put laxatives in his coffee the day he and Sam were going to a wedding.”

Ms Mone divorced her husband in January 2013.

Michael Mone, 47, is reportedly seeking legal advice about the content of his ex-wife’s book, which he has dismissed as “nonsense”.

He was last night unavailable for comment.
