Woman hailed a hero by bystander who says he saw her PUNCH an alleged mugger
A WOMAN has been hailed a hero by a bystander who claims he saw her PUNCH an alleged robber in the face – dramatically halting the attempted mugging of a pensioner.
The drama unfolded today after an elderly man was targeted in Sloane Square in Kensington, west London.
But heroically, a female shopper came to the alleged victim's rescue by punching the suspected mugger in the face in order to stop him, according to witnesses.
Then a second woman, who was carrying a young child, stepped in and helped to corner him with the assistance of two workmen, it was reported.
Dominic Shelmerdine, a 54-year-old author who lives near where the incident took place, said he saw the woman give the man a "good punch".

He told the Standard: "I was walking past to go and eat a late breakfast. I saw this woman screaming and she punched him.
"Unfortunately for him, he ran into another woman who was carrying a child.
"I am very glad [the first woman] gave him a good punch. I saw him sitting in the road looking sorry for himself afterwards.
"Afterwards she went up to him and said 'You got what you deserved'. Two workmen came to help stop him from running away."
He continued: "People were getting out of their Chelsea tractors and were getting spontaneously interested. There were loads of police. It all unfolded rather dramatically."
"I was shocked but I was more shocked that the two women got involved because they normally wouldn't involve themselves in that sort of thing."
The incident is understood to have taken place at around 12:30pm, with a Scotland Yard officer confirming that a man was arrested on suspicion of robbery at 12:39pm.
The victim has not yet been in touch with police, the spokesman added.
