Federica Boscolo-Gnolo, 31, reported the disappearance of her two-month-old daughter from the hotel in the Hammersmith and Fulham area, west London.

After a number of enquiries, officers charged Boscolo-Gnolo, an Italian national, with the child's murder on Thursday.

A Met Police spokesperson said: “Officers from the Homicide and Major Crime Command are investigating and, although no body has been found, detectives obtained authority to charge Federica Boscolo-Gnolo with murder.

“Enquiries continue to establish the full circumstances of the baby's disappearance.”

Baby Farah Boscolo-Gnolo was born on November 22 before her mother travelled to the UK from Chioggia, near Venice in Italy.

Boscolo-Gnolo appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court and is due to appear at the Old Bailey on February 3.
