Michelle Dodd, 38, was arrested and charged after throwing water from a pan into an adjoining garden.

A court heard that the neighbours had been in dispute for more than a year and there had been three water-throwing incidents last May.

On each occasion the water, which was thrown from her window, landed on her neighbour Afshan Iqbal or one of her four children.

Unemployed Dodd had denied the offence but was found guilty of all three charges of assault at Stockport Magistrates Court, Greater Manchester.

She was given a 12-month conditional discharge with £280 costs.

Speaking after the verdict, Dodd spoke of incredulity that the case had even gone ahead.

I thought the court would laugh and sue the police for wasting everyone’s time

She said: “It’s disgusting but there’s nothing I can do.

"I thought the court would laugh and sue the police for wasting everyone’s time.”

The court heard that Dodd, of Reddish, Stockport, has had a long dispute with Mrs Iqbal over her “noisy” children playing on a trampoline.

One of her children was aged two.

Mrs Iqbal said: “I can’t stop my two-year-old being loud.

"They are only children, they do what children do.

"I feel very sad.”
