But users stormed social media to blast the police tweet – after many interpreted the illustration as a tutorial on preparing cocaine.

One twitter user branded the police cartoon a "crack-ing picture".

Other users wasted no time mocking the Gloucestershire force – with many tweeting the official police account links to music videos including Grandmaster Flash's hit 1983 song White Lines.

Another user, Matt, teased officers over their misinterpreted cold weather warning asking: "Wouldn't the cocaine get stuck in the ice on the windscreen?"

Alex Harvey advised the Gloucestershire police to "chalk it up officer".

However, some twitter users approved of the advice – with one account praising the Gloucestershire officer's guidance saying the credit card was "Great for when your windscreen has a @charliesheen"

Officers – who took the illustration from online how-to community WikiHow – quickly responded to the twitter taunts by posting a clarification.

The force tweeted: "So, the #tweet has been seen differently..time to get a serious message out."

Gloucestershire police then tweeted a link to Frank, the confidential drug advice helpline.
