THE Health Lottery has launched Britain's first 50p lottery game, offering a £25,000 top prize.

After tickets go on sale tomorrow the first draw will be held on January 23 and then every Tuesday and Friday.

A random number generator will choose numbers for the player of the Quick Pick game, which will run in addition to the existing £1 game.

Stan Myerson, group joint managing director of Health Lottery owner Northern & Shell, said: "We wanted to make the Health Lottery even more affordable and increase the £90million that has already been won."

The Health Lottery has raised over £60million for British health charities. Since it began in September 2011, it has supported more than 265,000 people through 1,500 local initiatives. It operates on behalf of 51 local lottery societies across the country.

Uniquely, it supports the single cause of health. Charities which have benefitted include Carers Trust, Dementia UK and the Royal Voluntary Service.

The new game means there are now four chances to win each week. The Health Lottery has won praise from politicians and celebrities.

Music producer Simon Cowell said: "Its contribution to local communities makes you proud to be British."
