FRUSTRATED commuters suffered horrendous delays on the M25 today after a LOOSE HORSE brought traffic to a standstill.

The animal caused travel chaos on the M25

The animal forced the closure of anti-clockwise lanes between junctions 28 and 27 in Essex as infuriated Britons struggled to make their way to work during the busy rush-hour.

The stretch of road was shut from around 7:30am, causing queues from junction 30 at the A13.

Police were called to the scene where the horse was eventually captured shortly before 9am and the road re-opened.

It is unclear if the animal came from a nearby field or escaped from a vehicle, while its condition has also yet to be revealed.

Angry commuters soon took to Twitter to vent their disbelief over the bizarre incident.

One user tweeted: "All jokes aside there's actually a horse on the m25."

While another said: "Thanks to a horse that has managed to run lose on the M25, I am now late to work!"

And another posted: "A loose horse on the M25 isn't funny."
