The would-be robbers

The CCTV footage shows the masked pair walking into the Nisa store in Northfield, Birmingham, at 10pm on Saturday, November 1.

One of the pair, who were described as being in their mid to late teens, then takes what appears to be a gun in a plastic bag and threatens the shopkeeper with it.

However, the owner refuses to hand over any money or goods to the would-be robbers.

The two young men are then seen loitering by the shop doors as they argue what to do next.

They then get into each other's way as they bump into each other before leaving the shop empty handed.

The pair left without stealing anything

The storekeeper remained calm throughout what must have been a very alarming ordeal.

DC Michelle Beasley

Detective Constable Michelle Beasley, of West Midlands Police, said: "The storekeeper remained calm throughout what must have been a very alarming ordeal.

"He refused to comply with the robbers' demands, even when they moved behind the counter and held what he believed to be a gun to his head.

"Despite their threats, the men eventually left empty-handed and made off towards Frankley."

Anyone who recognises the men are urged to call DC Beasley on 101, alternatively information can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
