THIS is the horrifying moment a reveller awoke to find the tent next to him engulfed in flames after partying for three days at Leeds Festival.

As the music stopped and seventy thousand young festival-goers began to leave Bramham Park today, most abandoned their unwanted tents as well as deck chairs, air beds and litter.

Others, recklessly, opted to set fire to their tents or destroy them by other means - leaving the fields in Leeds, West Yorkshire in clouds of black smoke.

All campers left the campsite by 12 noon and now hundreds of volunteers will begin the mass clean-up operation after the festival, which saw bands including Blink 182 and Paramore take to the stage, came to an end.

Lost property will be donated to charity.

The weekend festivities were hit with heavy showers that left young party-goers soaked in mud and rain.

However, the traditional British summer failed to dampen their spirits, as most music fans donned jean shorts, dresses, rain macs, parkas and wellies.

Last year, the festival was a washout with the Bramham Park site turned into a mudbath.

Around £50,000 was spent installing 1,000 metres of piping to improve drainage at the park, which has been home to the music extravaganza since 2003.

The Arctic Monkeys closed the festival and Melvin Benn, Leeds Festival organiser, told ITV News it would be difficult to top their performance next year.
