But less than 48 hours later Lisa, 35, was dead.

Her family yesterday demanded answers as bosses launched an inquiry into her mystery death on a hospital’s post-natal ward.

Holiday cruise operator Lisa, who would have been 36 yesterday, was admitted to Royal Oldham Hospital on Saturday night.

Baby Zac was found to be in the breech position and he was born by caesarean section at about 2.30am.

All seemed well, but on Monday morning Lisa’s father Robert received a call to say there had been a medical emergency and could the family return quickly to the hospital.

By the time they got there Lisa was dead.

Her grieving partner Chris Harding, 35, of Oldham, Greater Manchester, said: “I loved her so much, I am numb.” Lisa’s mother Judith, 59, a retired teaching assistant, said: “We want answers.

“She was so happy, the happiest we had ever seen her, with baby Zac in her arms. She said, ‘Just look at him, he’s perfect’. I will treasure that memory of her for the rest of my life.”

A hospital spokeswoman said the cause of death was not known and staff were still investigating. The coroner has been informed.
