A HOTHEADED bodybuilder with a history of bad behaviour has been spared jail for his latest fracas - so that he can carry on with anger management classes.

Muscle-bound Kyle Bent was jailed for 10 weeks in December after magistrates heard he terrorised cabin crew and passengers on a flight to Ibiza.

But he has now been hauled back into the dock for sparking a "disgraceful" and "violent" brawl with a guest while working as a hotel receptionist.

The 26-year-old admitted affray at Manchester Crown Court but avoided another spell behind bars after the court heard that he hopes to curb his temper tantrums with training.

Prosecuting counsel said Bent threw a can of cola at a guest and sprayed him with the drink after finishing his shift at the Travel Lodge, in Ancoats, Manchester at 5am on October 26.

The guest punched Bent in the face, before charging at him with a champagne bottle in the hotel's reception. But Bent countered with a plastic cone, bundling his opponent to the floor, the court heard.

Both men suffered only minor injuries.

This is the second time Bent, of Hadfield Close, Victoria Park, has ended up in the dock for a bizarre outburst in the last three months.

Trafford magistrates heard how he abused a passenger on a packed late-night flight in July, before threatening cabin crew and swinging from the seats during landing.

He was arrested for public order offences on his return from Ibiza.

Laura Ward-Jones, defending in the latest case, said the Manchester Metropolitan University sports management student had given up drugs, cut down on drinking and was trying to master the red mist.

"I'd ask if any sentence could be suspended so he could continue with anger management," she added.

Bent has since left the Travel Lodge and is working as a personal trainer, the court heard.

Sentencing for the hotel punch-up, Judge Patrick Field QC said Bent would benefit from a "module in meditation", saying he had behaved in an "aggressive, violent, belligerent and frankly disgraceful way".

However, the judge said there was a "realistic chance of rehabilitation", and a suspended sentence would enable him to "reflect", adding: "A bit of reflection might have avoided you getting in this situation in the first place."

The judge handed Bent an eight-month jail term, suspended for a year, with 200 hours' unpaid work.
