The 16-year-old - who cannot be named for legal reasons - has ended her relationship with Forrest, who is serving five and a half years in prison for abduction and underage sex after fleeing to France with the girl when she was just 15.

Despite originally vowing to wait for the 31-year-old, the schoolgirl has now started a relationship with a 20-year-old teaching assistant from a different school.

On her Twitter account last week, the schoolgirl wrote: "Really annoys me when people say that if you move on you didn't care or didn't love the person that you were with before. Grow up."

Last night, the Sun on Sunday quoted the girl's mother as saying she approved of her daughter's new relationship.

She said: "He is really nice and we have welcomed him into our family and I am very happy for my daughter."

As well as working as a PE teaching assistant, her new man also works part-time in security.

Forrest began a relationship with the girl when he taught her at Bishop Bell School in East Sussex.

She was just 15 years old, and in 2012 they fled to France.

They spent a week on the run before being discovered in Bordeaux, after a tip-off from a barmaid.
