Pregnant woman and unborn baby dies after falling to death from third floor of building
A PREGNANT woman died after falling to death from the third floor of a building in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The victim was named locally as mother of two Georgina Drinkwater and police said she died under "suspicious" circumstances.
Ms Drinkwater was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics at 3.22am. The
mother-of-two is believed to have been six months pregnant.
An investigation was launched after the death at Orpheus House, a block of flats in Westminster. A man was arrested at the scene and later bailed.
I am specifically appealing to any witnesses who may have seen the woman fall from Orpheus House
Detective Inspector Colette Smyth, Homicide and Serious Crime Command, said: "Even in the early hours of Sunday, Harrow Road, W10 was busy with traffic and people walking around.
"I am specifically appealing to any witnesses who may have seen the woman fall from Orpheus House or anyone who was area just after 03:00hrs and witnessed this tragic incident to contact the police."
Next-of-kin have been informed and a post mortem examination will be held, however formal identification is yet to take place.
A witness, who declined to give her name, was at Orpheus House the night of the incident, said she heard someone shouting for help prior to Ms Drinkwater's death.
She said: "My boyfriend and I were watching a film in bed when we heard someone shouting 'help, help, help'. I looked out the window and I saw a woman lying flat on her back."
The witness said she thought something was "weird" about the scene.
She added: "There was a man with her, it was him who was shouting 'help' I think.
"But I looked to the side of the woman and she had her handbag with her. I thought it was a bit weird she had her handbag by her side."
Flowers were left at the scene tonight however family members who visited did not wish to comment.
Among cards the left at the scene, her father wrote in one: "My beautiful girl. My heart is broken. Love Dad."
