Craig Knapp, 31, who is believed to have been on holiday on the island of Majorca with relatives, fell from the building on Monday.

The exact circumstances of his death are unknown, but it is thought the HGV driver took his own life by jumping from the balcony in the busy resort of Magaluf.

His heartbroken family are now waiting to fly his body back home to Dundee.

Yesterday, Mr Knapp’s wife Lisa said she loved her husband “with all her heart,” and that the family was struggling to come to terms with the sudden loss.

She paid tribute to the “kind nature” and “zest for life” of her husband, who had three children, Craig, 12, Rhys, six, and Dara, four, and said: “We are still in shock and disbelief.

“Our priority is to get him home and lay him to rest properly.

“He was a much-loved man, a devoted husband and a really good dad, He will be missed by many.

“He was a lovely man. He always wanted to make people happy. He was just a happy go lucky guy. He was always the life and soul of the party. He loved playing the guitar and he always knew the right thing to say.”

More than 100 people joined a Facebook group called “RIP Craig Knapp”, as news of the tragedy spread.

A Foreign and Commonwealth Office spokesman confirmed the embassy had been informed of the incident in the holiday resort and were in touch with the family.

He said: “We were notified about the death of a British national in Majorca on July 8. We are providing consular assistance to the family.”
