Bingo hall caller in £55k scam
A BENEFIT cheat was caught working as a bingo caller, a court heard yesterday.
Terrence Hutchings, 65, conned £55,987.58 in state benefits.
Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court heard how he worked at Top Ten Bingo in Tonypandy in the Rhondda Valley, South Wales, for five years.
He admitted four counts of benefit fraud from April 2002 until the following year.
Hutchings, of Trealaw, Rhondda, believed he could work 16 hours a week before having to declare it. He was given an eight-month suspended sentence and 120 hours unpaid work.
