Weather is the hot subject
IT’S official, Britons are obsessed with the weather.
Every second there are at least 282 of us talking about what is going on in the sky, according to new research.
And as a nation of armchair forecasters, each one of us gossips about the climate more than 40 times, with an
average of 18 different people, each month.
Research agency Starcom MediaVest Group spokesman Simon Stanforth said: “We really are a nation of armchair
meteorologists, following every twist and turn from the cold snaps and downpours to droughts and heatwaves.
“The majority of us talk about the weather at home on the phone as we plan our day around the elements.”
Leon Brown, a meteorologist at The Weather Channel said the only thing we are more interested in is what

family and friends are up to.
He said: “It’s no wonder the weather is never far from our minds, having just experienced the wettest April and the third
warmest March since records began.”
