Supermarket fuel falls 2p
THE big four supermarkets are set to cut fuel prices again today – by up to 2p per litre.
It represents a third reduction in the past month by Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons and Asda – and it comes as wholesale costs have tumbled 10p since reaching record highs in mid-April.
Asda was first to announce it will lower prices, its third drop in three weeks, meaning it has cut 6p off a litre since April 20. Drivers filling up at any of Asda’s 196 forecourts will pay from today no more than 134.7p a litre for petrol and 139.7p for diesel.
It took 12 days for the peak North West European wholesale price to be reflected in record prices in the UK. It shouldn’t take much longer for dramatic falls at the pumps
Tesco fuel prices will fall by 2p a litre at its 490 forecourts.
And there could be further “significant” savings to come.
AA president Edmund King, said: “It took 12 days for the peak North West European wholesale price to be reflected in record prices in the UK. It shouldn’t take much longer for dramatic falls at the pumps.”
