Chuffed...wooden toy train is worth £5,000
THIS wooden model of Stephenson’s Rocket has emerged as the oldest toy train in the world.
It is thought to have been made in the 1830s by a father whose cottage backed on to the Stockton and Darlington line in County Durham, the world’s first public railway.
The toy was bought in the 1960s by teacher Tom Robson. “I thought after 50 years it may be worth £30,” said Mr Robson, 67, of Sunderland.
But on Sunday BBC Antiques Roadshow viewers will see expert Paul Atterbury value it at up to £5,000.
