Manchester riots: How one yob felt full force of the law
INTERNET images of a looter who felt the full force of the law in Manchester have become a hit across Britain.
Three yobs fleeing on bicycles after mayhem in the city centre on Tuesday night were confronted by seven riot squad police with batons.
Two escaped but the third was cornered by the officers and hit up to four times as he got off his bike before being apparently kicked.
A video of the incident is doing the rounds on the internet with the strap-line: “Manchester Riot Police Serve Up Some Cold, Hard Justice”.The film emerged as Greater Manchester Police revealed 113 people had been arrested.
Officers were called to 800 incidents in the city centre and 130 in Salford. More than 1,000 officers took part in the operation and 10 were injured.
Yesterday, Jason Ullett, 39, of Ancoats, was jailed for 10 weeks and Ricky Gemmell, 18, of Gorton, got 16 weeks’ youth custody at a special sitting of Manchester magistrates for their part in the riots.
