Terror threat to Britain lowered
THE terror threat to the UK has been scaled down from severe to substantial or level three, Home Secretary Theresa May said yesterday.
It still means an attack remains a strong possibility and might well occur without further warning, she said.
Mrs May said: “The change does not mean the overall threat has gone away. There remains a real and serious threat against the United Kingdom and I would ask the public to remain vigilant.”
Five levels of threat – top is critical – are set by the Joint Terrorism Analysis Centre based on latest intelligence about capability, intent and timescale.
