Swine flu: Devastated boyfriend says he's lost everything
A DEVASTATED boyfriend yesterday said he had “lost everything” after his partner died in childbirth from suspected swine flu along with their baby girl.
Julie Ellison, 31, was admitted to Royal Preston Hospital two weeks ago and placed in quarantine.
After her condition deteriorated, doctors induced baby Jessica but the child died during labour.
Hours later Ms Ellison, from Longridge, Lancs, also died.
Tom Howe, 36, who met Ms Ellison at work at BAE Systems in Samlesbury, choked back tears as he said: “It should have been the happiest day of my life. I don’t know what to do.”
Mr Howe, who lost his father to cancer last month, added: “I’ve lost everything. Why is life so cruel?”
An inquest has been opened and adjourned at Preston Coroners’ Court.
Ms Ellison had another child, Richard, 12, from a previous relationship, who is now living with his father.
