Burkha ban MP could face legal action
A TORY MP has been warned he could face legal action if he follows through on a threat to refuse to meet constituents wearing burkhas.
Lawyers for Liberty wrote to Philip Hollobone insisting he cannot discriminate under the Equality Act.
The group added it would represent any veiled constituent he refused to meet.
The Kettering MP argues anyone who wants his help should see him face-to-face or communicate in a “different way”.
He has tabled a private member’s bill to ban women wearing the burkha in public. Muslim groups criticised his comments.
