Scientists solve Gwyneth Paltrow heels mystery
HEELS like those worn by Victoria Beckham or Gwyneth Paltrow shorten muscle fibres in the calves, experts have found.
That is no problem when tottering around on Louboutins or Jimmy Choos because the heel is elevated while the
muscle is shortened.
But as soon as women kick off their shoes, the ache sets in because it is harder for the muscles to stretch back to the
natural flat-foot position, researchers at Manchester Metropolitan University found. The university’s Professor Marco Narici said the answer is shoes-off stretching exercises, raising and lowering the heels around 20 times a day.
